10 things...

10 things you probably haven’t done meme. It’s not like I haven’t mentioned most of these on my LJ anyway. Longtime readers, feel free to yawn.

1. Was the youngest person in my hunter safety class and got the best score on the written test.
2. Got suspended from high school for "willful defiance of authority".
3. Won two gold medals at the Junior Nationals for my sport.
4. Played in a Grateful Dead cover band.
5. Chained shut the administration building at my college in an anti-apartheid demonstration. Even though there was a picture taken of me doing it printed in the student newspaper, they somehow couldn’t identify me.
6. Completed a Scared Straight program as part of a felony diversion.
7. Did "security" for Cesar Chavez then drank beer and ate fries with him.
8. Got arrested for protesting at the 1984 Democratic Convention while chanting "No War! No KKK! No fascist USA!"
9. Went on a date with the daughter of a member of Jefferson Starship.
10. Got recruited and paid to speak on a national panel discussion about cheese. More than once even!

Bonus:
11. Played organized pee-wee football for four years before high school. C’mon other football players, out yourself! (in most places in this country this would be expected of me. But here I think it’s unusual)

"willful defiance of authority"

I think you beat me...but I did get ISS for repeated "insubordination"

I would like to hear more about #2 and #6 in detail.

I ran cross country

[identity profile] hammerhead.livejournal.com 2005-02-25 08:23 am (UTC)(link)
and the football players called us fags.

8. Got arrested for protesting at the 1984 Democratic Convention while chanting "No War! No KKK! No fascist USA!"

ah, an old MDC fan :-p

[identity profile] systemerror.livejournal.com 2005-02-25 02:43 pm (UTC)(link)
Just yesterday, I had MDC stuck in my head...

9. Went on a date with the daughter of a member of Jefferson Starship.

What, no Jefferson Airplane? That would have been much cooler.

The Greatfull Dead cover band is almost unforgivable, but because I know how much you hate Journey I'll let it slide.

My fella played football too...with Matthew Barney of all people!

The written test? Somehow I'm having trouble with the image here... fearless hunter, elusive prey, dense woodland cover, multiple choice...

[identity profile] goodbadgirl.livejournal.com 2005-02-25 03:57 pm (UTC)(link)
That's a hot list.

I, too, was the youngest person in my hunter safety class.

[identity profile] walktheplank.livejournal.com 2005-02-25 05:47 pm (UTC)(link)

[identity profile] whimsicalpops.livejournal.com 2005-02-25 05:50 pm (UTC)(link)
#5... umm dude UCB california hall? UCB police wanted to know who put nails in the pretty door on the south side of the hall... they never found my hammer.

8. I can't believe we never met during the 80's. We must have been in some meeting together at some point damnit.
My Dad was so angry at me. I got in the Moscone center under his pass and his okay then disrupted a speech. Bad daughter.

It's #4 that really has me flabbergasted. After all your poseury hippie hating! Guess who needs a good meal at Cafe Gratitude?

swoon!

i am SO proud and excited to have known someone (2 people?) involved in a lockdown at that place (see #5)! hoo whee!

re: grateful dead cover bands abound in that town. more recently - okay, 3 years ago - it's the zydeco craze. and, of course, the hippies are still everywhere. though they come out more once it warms up. and, yes, i do love some of them.
