Well, I was stupid last night. Even though I posted in my LJ the correct night for "Dogs in Space" I wrote it in my date book wrong. For some reason I thought it was the same week as Coed Magnetic. nodoilies across the Mission on the J Church. We even left really early to get a seat this time, and I brought Burritos and Ho Hos so we didn’t have to stop for food.
But instead of Australian squatter punks and falling space junk, El Rio was hosting an open mike night. A weirdly eclectic open mike night it would seem: Jazz piano, "slam" poetry, acoustic Ani-influenced sister rock, and more. I could describe it all better if we hadn’t fled to the backyard to avoid it, being the only people who were there and not performing. From a couple of closed doors and 100 ft away it sounded above average as those things go.
Thank the non-existent diety that it was $2 margarita night.
No Doi and I did have a lovely time sitting outside discussing LJ, mutual friends, and her upcoming birthday however, which, to be honest, seems like a lot more fun than watching the INXS guy for a couple of hours. The worst part is that I rescheduled my meeting for next Tuesday so I won’t be able to go back next week when the movie is actually playing. So Sad.
