What cheese did you buy for Thanksgiving or No Thanks to Genocide Day celebrations/commemorations?

Brillat-savarin, cotswold, buttermilk blue.

Can you answer a cheese question for me?

Are there any veined cheeses that are safe for people with gluten allergies?

None!

I did, however, have a long and tipsy conversation the day before Thanksgiving with a similarly drunken basque in front of the cheese section of our sad local "independent" grocery. Then I wandered away and bought granola & petite verdot.

Gruyere for the gougeres, Pt. Reyes blue for the stuffed endive leaves, and St. Agur, Parrano, Petit Basque, and Mt. Tam for snacking.

Just plain goat cheese. Made faux-bruschetta appetizers with baguette, goat cheese, walnuts and honey, toasted.

some la tour(sp?), some drunken goat, and then some generic brie we defiled with really yummy strawberry goop and candied walnuts.

so, in other words, creamy and not challenging cheeses. easy eats.

Hey, glad to be back. I hope you'll have me; I've grown up a bit in the past couple years. ;)

People with diagnosed gluten allergies should avoid all blue cheese.

I ate a lot of Basque cheese. We sold about 250 lbs of Basque sheep cheese on the day and a half before t-giving.

For snacking, while cooking stuff for the actual dinner, some kind of gouda with mustard seeds in it.

Oh gosh, I'm sorry, I'm not sure. It was a small round and bought at Fairway. Fairway's cheese page doesn't help much, either, sadly.

a better question would be, what cheese didn't i buy?

aged ewephoria, l'etivaz gruyere, st. agur, basque pilota, italian tortambros, spanish drunken goat, italian tre latti (sp?), and the organic sierra nevada cream cheese.

they all made excellent leftover turkey sammich cheeses! yummmm. thanks for your help!

Petit Basque and this insanely creamy gorgonzola that spread like soft butter. Sorry, I don't recall the name.

I'm not participating in this blatant marketing research campaign unless I see some free cheese coupons!

I put out a big cheese plate with:

leyden with caraway
havarti with dill
french yogurt cheese with tomato and basil
cotswold
an aged grueyre that i forget the name of
prima donna
an aged gouda that i don't know how to spell, beemstersomething?
kasseri
proscuitto and provolone roll

and a few kinds of crackers. Yum! Prima Donna, Cotswold and kasseri are my favorite cheeses of all time, too, so it was tasty happiness.
