I think the first sentence was clear in the portrayal of the other pageant girls. I felt it skirted the issue with Grandpa which was kind of a cop-out. Grandpa alone with the girl, giving her lessons, was a constant plot point. But oh, ha ha! Growl!
Not that I didn't fully appreciate the everyone dancing onstage scene at the end. I thought that was almost as good an us against them scene as the funeral fight in Suburbia, one of my fave movie moments ever.
