It's really great that California has made a holiday to celebrate his work. My dad worked with Cesar on the grape boycott. I think I may have met him once in my early teens, but I'm not sure of that. There was a never-ending parade of labor luminaries through my house as a kid and teen. I do know that Chavez was one of the few people that I can remember my dad being in awe of. And since he wasn't quite the top tier of 'famous' public figure that I'd seen my dad with, I was fairly well impressed by that.
