why I read the newspaper

The Chron toady had such a wonderful juxtaposition of articles on page two. Only two articles on the page. The top headline reads: "Vatican says Inquisition got bad rap". the bottom one reads "Conservatives launch pre-emptive strike against documentary critical of Bush" which detailed talk radio attacks on the new Michael Moore movie by right-wingers who haven't seen it yet.

Combine that with the movie review of "Around the world in 80 days". What a way to wake up!

chron toady indeed. i never really read the chronicle - only the examiner, and then by the time that crazy sneaky consolidation happened, i only read online news. :o

I remember some great photo captions in the Chronicle. Once there was a respected sports doctor warning seriously about the dangers of steroids, and they included a wild-eyed picture of him with the caption "Dr. - decades of steroid use."
