Poetry meme

Well, there's that poetry meme going around. First off, I must direct you to this wonderful Cheese sestina that I read over at [livejournal.com profile] chzmongrrrweeps. I laughed. I cried. It was like they were writing about my life.

But, in the spirit of things, I'll type one by George Kauffman.

May Day Unsung

Pardon us,
     we seem to have taken
     a wrong turn. May Day
has become unsung,
    the Red Square
silent and the technique
    of the West
has overcome the will
    of the people.
    We are six workers
          in search
    of a revolution,
          and we shall
               bury you.

now go post some poetry in your own LJ.

Wrapping the text with <pre></pre>

Re: Try

but the text has different indentation in each line. how would I deal with that? sorry to ask for a html tutorial...

The
stands for "preformatted," so whatever you type between
 and
appears just as you space it. Also, more.

argh.

that's "whatever you type between PRE and /PRE appears just as you space it."

it also shows up in the typewritery font unless you specify otherwise.

cool, thanks.

slight tutoring, no biggie

I'm not sure how you personally post/edit your LJ entries, but in this case I'd go to the edit link (should be http://www.livejournal.com/editjournal_do.bml?journal=gordonzola&itemid=166164) and find the beginning of the poem. There, before the <b> tag, put a <pre> tag. Then, at the end, find the </b> tag and put a </pre> tag after it. Then it'll look better.

You are such a tool. In the most lovely way possible. ;)

I thought you hated poetry. What up, punk?

[identity profile] gordonzola.livejournal.com 2004-10-18 12:33 pm (UTC)(link)
you're confusing me with all the other punks. John Cooper Clarke is my hero.
