One thing which I wrote but will NOT post on a random food blog (not an LJ) where the (amateur) cheese lover keeps calling himself a "cheesemonger":
You are not a monger. I am a monger. Monger means wholesale buying and retail selling, not just that you love eating cheese. You are a turophile. No, really. I know it sounds dirty but look it up. No, it's not my fault. I know it's a stupid name but I didn't make it up. Maybe if you organize with other cheese eaters and form an organization you can lobby the dictionary to change it. Or how about using "cheese enthusiast", "cheese eater" "cheese lover", or "cheese afficianado" if you have to use a non-English word to make it sound more important. but not monger. That's ours.
