My high school turns 50 this year and there are a ton of celebrations and mini reunions. One that actually seems like it would be fun is the newspaper reunion. My high school newspaper -- the Redwood Bark* -- constantly sparred with the administration during those shrinking-freedom days of the Reagan Revolution and I do actually have fond memories of the people involved. Plus, those journalism teachers were really the people who taught me how to write.

It's next Sunday morning. Any lurking high school classmates should spread the word. I hope my brother wants to go with me since I'm not in touch with anyone else (from my years) who is going. I just learned, from perusing the Bark Alumni website, that three Bark alumni are Pulitzer Prize winners... who knew? I love how when I said I was a cheesemonger that they assumed it was a publication of some sort.

*In 1984 or so I tried to interview X for the entertainment section because they were playing in Petaluma. I didn't get the interview, but their press person was all, "What paper are you with?... The Redwood Bark?... huh... well, that's cute." The show was awesome even if that was the last I heard from the band. The yearbook was called the Redwood Log which was even cuter.
