[livejournal.com profile] freakstorm with her processed American cheese food sculpture

Sorry I didn’t pull out the camera until the very end.

Skinny Sublettor makes a mess!

edgar98-R1-053-25
The hosts minus [livejournal.com profile] anarqueso who had to work the early cheese shift. This is actually a not great/not terrible picture of all of us.

edgar98-R1-041-19
But our guests were so cute!

This is such a beginner's cheese question, but is there a (legal) reason for the "food" in "cheese food"? Is there some kind of definition of the cheese-becoming process that rules out that which is -food and -wiz?

[identity profile] sparkle-shortz.livejournal.com 2005-10-25 04:12 pm (UTC)(link)
I think that there are no FDA guidelines on "whiz" but there are on "food" vs just "cheese."

*cackles thinking of FDA guidelines for "whiz"*

[identity profile] substitute.livejournal.com 2005-10-25 10:00 pm (UTC)(link)
Cheez Whiz must by law be not more than 40% whiz and contain at least 15% cheez. I'm not sure what the rest of the stuff is in there. Maybe dongz or bugz or ratz.

[identity profile] nuncstans.livejournal.com 2005-10-26 01:48 am (UTC)(link)
I think it's at least 30% patriotism.

[identity profile] gordonzola.livejournal.com 2005-10-25 11:58 pm (UTC)(link)
wiz is sprayable! but really it's a brand name.

cheese-food reminds people that it is a food which contains cheese rather than a cheese on its own. Processed American Cheese Food is liquified cheese that has been emulsified through additives and often has gums. It has almost no expiration date and is still America's most innovative cheese achievement.

[identity profile] nuncstans.livejournal.com 2005-10-26 01:47 am (UTC)(link)
gross!
I kinda thought it was pre-cheese, sort of how mac n' cheese cheese will be milk plus enzymes or whatever, but will never have been cheese before you mix it up and that maybe "cheese food" only "becomes cheese" in your stomach. But that wouldn't make any sense. It's actually post-cheese! But by "has gums" I trust you don't mean a part of the human mouth, but like xantham or whatever.

[identity profile] reveritas.livejournal.com 2005-10-25 04:06 pm (UTC)(link)
you ought to hit up [livejournal.com profile] touchyphiliac for her pictures. i believe she was taking them all nite y0.

[identity profile] gordonzola.livejournal.com 2005-10-25 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
Touchy! Are you reading? I want pics!

[identity profile] touchyphiliac.livejournal.com 2005-10-26 05:58 am (UTC)(link)
They're all somewhat buzzed self-portraits. I'll give you what little I have, since I went on a deleting spree on the bus home trying to get that last picture of Painty and me on a bus. Like we don't have enough of those!! It was like 3 a.m. by that point, probably.

[identity profile] gordonzola.livejournal.com 2005-10-26 06:02 am (UTC)(link)
heh. ok. disregard that comment on your journal. heh.

[identity profile] touchyphiliac.livejournal.com 2005-10-26 06:05 am (UTC)(link)
heh. lol. heh.

I'm uploading them to flickr. There are a couple of your friends and one of Painty that she so deserves for constantly posting this bathroom pick of me bending over naked. hello, i never consented to that being on the internet!!

The ones I have are cute, and I'm only uploading one bus picture. I swear to god, I take so many bus pictures. Every time we get on the bus, I take about 15 pictures.

[identity profile] touchyphiliac.livejournal.com 2005-10-26 06:06 am (UTC)(link)
Oh, and we get on the bus together about four times a week on average, and I get on the bus approximately 12 times per week on average. Fortunately, I restrain myself when I am on the bus alone. Although I used to take a lot of self-portraits on CalTrain.

[identity profile] paintdrinker.livejournal.com 2005-10-27 12:13 am (UTC)(link)
I posted the mr. universe picture ONCE, as retaliation for some shitty picture of me you posted.

[identity profile] touchyphiliac.livejournal.com 2005-10-27 06:58 am (UTC)(link)
You posted it at least twice!!

nice sculpture

[identity profile] vena-cava.livejournal.com 2005-10-25 06:01 pm (UTC)(link)
How did she make that sculpture? Does she have processed-cheese mold, or did she construct that by hand?

I watched her do it!

[identity profile] dairryiere.livejournal.com 2005-10-25 06:40 pm (UTC)(link)
It was a 2 1/2 lb brick that she carved with a butter knife and a parmesan knife (the small triangular bladed thing sitting on the plate with the sculpture).
This was her first time carving cheese but I think she may have found her calling.

Re: I watched her do it!

[identity profile] rednfiery.livejournal.com 2005-10-25 10:13 pm (UTC)(link)
yeah, and she was fearless. just started carving away at it. i was impressed. :)

Re: I watched her do it!

[identity profile] gordonzola.livejournal.com 2005-10-25 11:59 pm (UTC)(link)
She saw the nice woman and needed to let her out of the cheese.

[identity profile] agenthandy.livejournal.com 2005-10-25 07:41 pm (UTC)(link)

[identity profile] gordonzola.livejournal.com 2005-10-26 12:00 am (UTC)(link)

What did he spill? Is that beer? Or pee? What? These details are REALLY important to some of us.

[identity profile] gordonzola.livejournal.com 2005-10-26 12:00 am (UTC)(link)
Beer. but I can see how it looks pee-like

[identity profile] thisisthenow.livejournal.com 2005-10-26 09:42 am (UTC)(link)
It looks like he could be hiking his pants back up after taking a whiz on the floor. I'm sorry for asking, but inquiring minds needed to know!

[identity profile] goodbadgirl.livejournal.com 2005-10-26 12:58 am (UTC)(link)
The sculpture is so impressive.

That cheese sculpture reminds me of when I used to subscribe to "Electric Company" magazine in the early 80's & the November issue one year had a food sculpture (mostly veggies) that looked just like Garfield. I thought that was the best thing of all time, but this cheese sculpture is really amazing!

What do you think of pepperjack? It is my fav.
