Name dropping

One of the wonderful things about living in San Francisco is that almost everyone visits here sooner or later. World’s #1 tourist destination and all that…
I just wish they wouldn’t come all at once. In the last two weeks or so I’ve hung out with some of the most awesome people around. First
beelavender and her man were here which is always a fine occasion. We had a loud crowded night and then a quiet chatty one. I’ll make it to England next year even if I have to fly naked.
misscallis, her man, and their now- huge child showed up. I had only seen Saki the first day he was home after being born so it was quite a shock to see him at twice the size. His first word was "zine". Kelli and I gossiped about Epicenter and zine folks.
Then
defenestr8r called me up and told me she had hopped the Peaches tour bus and was in town for the afternoon. This caused me to put a 6 hour shift in at Zeitgeist. I hung out with her until it was airport time then my cheese rep Pinky showed up. Bizarrely it turned into a mini cheese conference because right after Pinky showed up, a rep from another distributor sat down on the end of my table with his brother and sister. Then Sheana called me from the Jerry Garcia Day festival and said she needed a drink.
"Good thing I’m already at the bar," I replied.
My newest co-worker then showed up with his own out of town visitor. Oh, and look, here’s a pic of me and Defenestr8r, thankfully from the first hour of drinking.

Next was
jamie_miller. I missed
zilly but met their son in a park I’d never been to before. It was in Noe Valley so the sandbox was filled with discarded children’s toys including the dreaded children’s cash register with stand.
Then Femmecon came and I can’t even keep track of all the femmes and friends who were here.
chitinous,
brownstargirl,
chestertodd,
epilady,
chreebomb,
ubiquity75,
lizsybarite. It was awesome to see you all! (And I’m just naming the out-of-towners here) Did I miss anyone? There were a few of you I wanted to meet and didn’t have a chance to,
kristychan,
angiereedgarner,
misia,
jilllibertini… I know better than to try to get between the femmes and their conference.
Then
slit arrived and I got to hang out with one of my favorite writers for two whole days. Ocean Beach, the Doggie Diner head, Twin Peaks, and Zeitgeist: we saw all the sites.
I’m exhausted. It was like vactioning while never leaving home. Of course without the time off work.

Date: 2006-08-21 04:11 pm (UTC)Yes, I am totally bummed we didn't get to meet, too. I felt totally pulled all weekend and just knew I would end up missing out on stuff. Like meeting some people like you. Wah!
