Perhaps this is too navel-gazing even for me, but I was looking for an old entry the other day (a review of Feelings on a Grid) and came upon a different one that I forgot I'd written.

My punk rock resume.

Man, I crack myself up, Then I thought, I could meme this. Those of you on LJ long enough to have forgotten many of your entries, go back and find one you like for some reason and post a link to it/link it in the comments here.

This can be LJ nostalgia day. I think this was one of my first to get double digit comments but I didn't actually go back and check that.

I choose the birthday photologue I made of A Day In My Life on my English friend Paul's 40th birthday, which I thought was quite entertaining regardless of the fact that no one read it and/or was at all moved to comment on it beyond Paul himself and the weird guy who always has some comment on everything and kind of gives me he creeps even though I know him IRL and he's totally harmless.

This came to mind.
And this, which I still find hysterical but maybe that's because I'm me and I was there.

Neither of them got much of a response. I suppose I should take that as a sign.

There's a bunch of stuff I'd love to find again but can't. Your fake resume for one thing. The alternate lyrics to New York City for another. And the poem we wrote in the ladies' room in an Iowa City bar.

I am writing about Crass today, so I am totally punk rock. I am sniffing glue as I post.

My choice of ancient post sees me become "industry", critique an indie band and then develop a new rating system for bands in the comments. The comments also feature me calling Calvin Johnson a pantywaist.

that's great. And Calvin is a pantywaist for leaving because it was cold. It's fucking England! It's supposed to be miserable. That's where all those great records came from.

I had completely forgotten all about this post.

I am feeling all tender and delicate today, and here was my very own self from almost 4 years back telling me to get a grip and take a fucking nap already!

aw, that's a great post to look back on. I also love the old comment section. I haven't seen elevenoclock around here in ages...

That was a fun trip through the Snarkives. I haven't done that in ages, and I think maybe it's something I should make a point of doing more often. The one I liked best of the stuff I read today was Letters to Bagelheads, the FriendBots, and the Bicycle Dude. Also Some Thanks and Some Self Pity. (http://trista.livejournal.com/436514.html) The letter to the bicycle dude was my favorite part.

I'm so going to have to do this in my journal, too.

it's too bad you couldn't actually send that letter to the bicycle dude... I would have loved to see the reply.

will you post a review, nay a memoir, of your Scared Straight program?

you know, in all seriousness, I have tried, and not succeeded in writing about that before. Perhaps I'll try again.

Memories!

I loved the punk rock resume! -especially the objective. :)

As for the meme the following entries come to mind:

Bait vs. Hymen and How to Mobilize to Stop the War in Iraq -both from the year 2002 (back when Ms. Spears was still proclaiming her intent to remain a virgin until her wedding night).

I was half asleep when I read the message about beauty bark. It was completely mysterious!

I made my entire journal private, so can't participate in this particular scheme! Though I am tempted to write a punk rock resume. Except of course the experts have informed me that I never was.....

Today was LJ nostalgia day and it was kind of horrifying. As you can tell by my comments, I've spent the last eight hours (sporadically) reading your livejournal just to recover from the earlier trauma!!!!
