San Francisco values

Yes to same sex marriage!
Yes to abortion on demand!
Yes to amnesty for illegal immigrants!

Thanks [livejournal.com profile] jtemperence! (This is a real campaign ad from Missouri's 6th Congressional District, which includes parts of Kansas City.)

politician porn = not hott.

[identity profile] liveavatar.livejournal.com 2008-05-24 07:11 pm (UTC)(link)
...Now that I think about it, I'm not with you there. It's the thrill of the unexpected that makes it hott. Passion o'ertakes Pelosi and Barnes to the point that they just can't keep their hands off each other, how can that not be hott?

[identity profile] sparkle-shortz.livejournal.com 2008-05-24 04:47 pm (UTC)(link)
I would email the link to my mom but I think her head would explode. She's about 2 hrs from St. Louis now.

[identity profile] gordonzola.livejournal.com 2008-05-24 05:22 pm (UTC)(link)
but it's tempting to send anyway, isn't it?

[identity profile] sparkle-shortz.livejournal.com 2008-05-24 06:01 pm (UTC)(link)
nah, but only because we're in a fight.

[identity profile] sparkle-shortz.livejournal.com 2008-05-26 03:03 am (UTC)(link)
Dude, the ad has been taken down for terms of use violations. What does it MEAN?

[identity profile] gordonzola.livejournal.com 2008-05-26 03:08 am (UTC)(link)
I don't know! I thought political ads were fair game.

[identity profile] gordonzola.livejournal.com 2008-05-26 03:10 am (UTC)(link)
pssst, I found another one here:

[identity profile] sparkle-shortz.livejournal.com 2008-05-26 03:16 am (UTC)(link)
Oh I found another one, too. But I just can't figure out why this particular ad would be one that would have to be removed and clandestinely reposted (I found two that were down for TOS). *shrugs* who knows. Now if you'll excuse me I have a gay insemination rave to get to instead of celebrating Our Troops on Memorial Day. Did you borrow my Stars n' Stripes trick towel?

PS Went to Coney Island today to see a lecture on the midget colony that was part of the Dreamland amusement park from 1904-1911. Quote of the day: "Would Marx have said they were alienated from their labor?"

[identity profile] slantedtruth.livejournal.com 2008-05-24 05:00 pm (UTC)(link)
but what are the dancers supposed to represent??? maybe abortion -- that dude gets both girls preggers

[identity profile] gordonzola.livejournal.com 2008-05-24 05:09 pm (UTC)(link)
They represent the gay insemination raves that we have every week. In order to financially support local abortionists we impregnate lesbians and have them go through the procedure. It's kinda like a CSA, but with a fetus and stirrups.

[identity profile] slantedtruth.livejournal.com 2008-05-24 05:10 pm (UTC)(link)
hott, sign me up!

[identity profile] the-macnab.livejournal.com 2008-05-24 06:06 pm (UTC)(link)
You failed to note that they bring in illegal immigrants to be the studs. That's what makes the hat trick.

[identity profile] gordonzola.livejournal.com 2008-05-24 06:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Marry the gay "illegal" immigrants so they can have US abortions using medicare!

[identity profile] metagrrrl.livejournal.com 2008-05-24 10:20 pm (UTC)(link)
That your daughters will be turned into lesbians and blacks will touch them was I think the general impression they were hoping for.

(Anonymous) 2008-05-24 05:34 pm (UTC)(link)
That's HILLARIOUS! I love the eighties party dancers in the background. I bet they have lots and lots of kinky sex out of wedlock.

[identity profile] uberconfused.livejournal.com 2008-05-24 05:34 pm (UTC)(link)
Honestly, I don't even understand that ad. What does it have to do with the congressional race in Missouri's 6th District?

[identity profile] nunofthat.livejournal.com 2008-05-24 05:39 pm (UTC)(link)
A few years ago when I was living in godforsaken rural Indiana during an election season the good old boys were happily smearing their opponents (mostly other good old boys) with the San Francisco values vs. Hoosier values thing too. It made me depressed.

[identity profile] magpiesf.livejournal.com 2008-05-24 07:14 pm (UTC)(link)
so wait, what theyre saying is kay barnes = dance party congresswoman?

[identity profile] quan-yin.livejournal.com 2008-05-24 07:33 pm (UTC)(link)
They're right. Voting for Kay Barnes will make you wear bright colors and cowboy hats, sip fruity drinks, and bump butts with other GAY people!

Sign me up!

[identity profile] slutbunwalla.livejournal.com 2008-05-24 08:04 pm (UTC)(link)
I wanna party with that party!

[identity profile] anarqueso.livejournal.com 2008-05-24 08:48 pm (UTC)(link)
That's awesome!

...wait, was that supposed to be against all those things? I thought it was just a kind of tacky ad in their favor.

[identity profile] gordonzola.livejournal.com 2008-05-25 03:23 pm (UTC)(link)
I guess we just have San Francisco values!

[identity profile] hotelsamurai.livejournal.com 2008-05-24 09:02 pm (UTC)(link)
The synth horn music was what did it for me. I'M SOLD. WHERE CAN I VOTE FOR KAY BARNES?

[identity profile] saltypepper.livejournal.com 2008-05-24 10:47 pm (UTC)(link)
Is this some kind of reverse psychology? Because I think it's working...

[identity profile] walktheplank.livejournal.com 2008-05-24 11:05 pm (UTC)(link)
Definitely reverse psychology. That looked like a really lame party.

exactly

[identity profile] gordonzola.livejournal.com 2008-05-26 03:40 pm (UTC)(link)
that party was so lame I am now against same-sex marriages! When gays marry, they forget how to throw a rager!

Re: as seen on..

[identity profile] gordonzola.livejournal.com 2008-05-25 03:22 pm (UTC)(link)
OUCH!

[identity profile] chitinous.livejournal.com 2008-05-25 02:31 am (UTC)(link)
NOW THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKING ABOUT!

[identity profile] gordonzola.livejournal.com 2008-05-26 03:38 pm (UTC)(link)
whoop! whoop!

[identity profile] yooniehatesyou.livejournal.com 2008-05-25 08:37 pm (UTC)(link)
damn you, san francisco! for puttin' all that rice in our burritos and gays in our marriages!

late to the game, but frothing

(Anonymous) 2008-05-26 06:41 am (UTC)(link)
OH HOLY SHIT. Kansas City represent! I'm having a range of difficult emotions here. It's hilarious. It's terribly sad. It's precisely why I left KCMO. Not so much because of the baseline rabid social conservatism* but (also) because it is SO FUCKING CLUELESS** (California: is this state just one big skeeerrrrry 80s dance party or what?). And yet so effective.*** It plays. That stupid, dangerous, hilarious bullshit has traction. Triple whammy! We laugh at it, as we should, but Graves is way up in the polls. http://www.kansascity.com/news/politics/story/630073.html

I love how commenters here were confused and thought it was an ad FOR something.

* Unpleasant.
** Unpleasant and embarrassing.
*** Unpleasant, embarrassing, really depressing!

Re: late to the game, but frothing

[identity profile] gordonzola.livejournal.com 2008-05-26 03:38 pm (UTC)(link)
that election is still early though. we'll see. Did you see the response ad that undisk0 posted above?

When I saw that I thought of you!

[identity profile] shandrew.livejournal.com 2008-05-29 09:11 am (UTC)(link)
Stephen Colbert has some competition!

[identity profile] gordonzola.livejournal.com 2008-05-29 02:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I know, right? It must be hard to do parody when the subjects keep upping the ante.
