Oh babe! You've never seen this? I could have quoted this episode for you verbatim (I can quote every Roseanne episode verbatim.) Hell, if I had known you were into it I could have acted the episode out for you.

Next time I'm in town - and crashing at Hermann St - you know I'm gonna - I'm going to get your GF to help me and we'll make an evening of it.

Miss you. xoxo

And: Love.

Am watching Roseanne right now.

Perhaps we should have invested in basic cable back in the day, think of all the good times we could have had!

I never watched Roseanne, but I really respect her for a lot of the things I heard about this show doing. And this was so cool -- it would've been so easy for them to go, "lolol those kids and their music" and instead they made an insightful statement in a venue that doesn't otherwise hear that shit. Go Roseanne, man.

Love it! Roseanne has totally survived the test of time. Also, was that a "Freedom Rock" joke I heard in there ("it's freedom rock.. turn it up")??

I remember watching this episode when it originally aired and my jaw fucking hitting the floor. Plus it was during a blizzard, and then school was canceled the next day!

We had that chair!

The plaid armchair in Roseanne's living room: we had it. This was a source of teenage shame and later pride for me. I loved that show like it was my family.

But man, have you read Roseanne's self-penned obituary (www.roseanneworld.com)? It's pretty amazing:

"After ramming through the concept of class to a segment of middle class American feminists, who at the behest of their masters, are encouraged not to address, name or be aware of the class system that controls their every waking thought, Barr became a wealthy dowager who financed every hairbrained revolutionary scheme ever brought to her unfocusable attentions.
...
Her lesser regrets were that she had not burned even more bridges, pissed off more idiots, fired more assholes, sang more patriotic anthems, and gained more weight."

FuhROshus!

oh I love this, haven't seen Roseanne and so long. I used to watch her when we lived at my grandmothers house (when me and dd got down and out in the suburbs, and lived in her basement) - she was like a spiritual t.v. mom to me. I had roseanne and clover had the simpsons, and we would eat supper together and my grandmother hated both shows so much, we had to watch them in the other room.

I even made a poster of roseanne for myself that said "no man, no government, can tell you what to do" or something like that. yea sappy. pop culture t.v. family <3
