Vacation was awesome

OMG, vacation did me good. I haven’t taken a real, not-working-on-another-project vacation for a long time. I hung out with Stagey, played with Schnitzel in the river, cooked lots of food and read four books.

This was our view:

Schnitzel kept busy by securing the perimeter.

South Side secure!

West side secure!
West side secure!

He also enjoyed howling at the workmen next door

and I kept busy pulling stuff out of his beard.

I admit it, people's photo updates about their children and pets are my favorite parts of social media. More Schnitzel!

Also, welcome back!

What you said!!

[identity profile] gordonzola.livejournal.com 2011-10-03 08:06 pm (UTC)(link)
omg, I have to hold myself back from posting a schnitzel pic every day.

[identity profile] pastels-badge.livejournal.com 2011-10-03 11:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Why the heck are you holding yourself back?!

[identity profile] gordonzola.livejournal.com 2011-10-04 01:21 am (UTC)(link)
If I knew it would bring all the LJ old-timers back, I would have posted more already.

I'm always reading (every few days at least) even when I'm not posting. And I always enjoy Schnitzel photos even when I don't comment. <3

I'm probably not one of your old-timers, but I've been here since 2000 and I read almost every day. Really!

[identity profile] gordonzola.livejournal.com 2011-10-04 10:36 pm (UTC)(link)
I consider you an old-timer of the people-I-only-know-on-the-internet variety.

[identity profile] susannochka.livejournal.com 2011-10-05 05:15 am (UTC)(link)
I would look at LJ every single day if I knew there would be Schnitzel pics.
(And that last picture of you two! So awesome.)

the daily schnitzel!

w/ that doggie on security you were totally safe.

He is a busy little man.

[identity profile] jillbertini.livejournal.com 2011-10-03 09:29 pm (UTC)(link)
Looks very peaceful and beautiful, and with a dog like Schnitzel keeping the perimeter secure, you could get lost in your books (except when you were on beard-cleaning detail) :P.

What did you read?

[identity profile] gordonzola.livejournal.com 2011-10-03 09:42 pm (UTC)(link)
Wingshooters by Nina Revoyr (I highly recommend anything by Nina Reyvor!)

Girls to the Front by Sara Marcus

and two mysteries (though the SJ Rozan turned out to be more of a thriller)

Still Midnight by Denise Mina

and On the Line by S.J. Rozan

Did you find Wingshooters depressing? I don't know if I can take depressing stories right now. It sounds like it's an amazing story, though!

[identity profile] gordonzola.livejournal.com 2011-10-04 10:01 pm (UTC)(link)
It doesn't end well, but I wouldn't call it super-depressing either. The narrator is looking back in time so that blunts the tragedies a little.

I love his haircut...his undercoat looks so soft.

[identity profile] gordonzola.livejournal.com 2011-10-04 10:01 pm (UTC)(link)
it is!

[identity profile] biblionerd-girl.livejournal.com 2011-10-04 12:19 pm (UTC)(link)
This was a great way to start the day. Glad you had fun! It looks ridiculously peaceful!

[identity profile] gordonzola.livejournal.com 2011-10-04 10:02 pm (UTC)(link)
It was awesome. Made us think about trying to buy a place up there someday. Certainly cheaper than where we live now...

Schnitzel is the shit, or should I say Scheisse?
