Comics, "Friends", Beer and Buffy

Am I missing something? In what universe does the likeness of the Winter Brothers have enough "commercial appeal" to sell comic books? Hmmmm, I guess seeing them as evil half-worms does have some draw.

I find it amusing that my short, off-the-cuff opine about "friending" drew more response than anything else I’ve ever written here. I guess I hit a nerve. Just don’t really want to lead the anti-"friend" movement, ok?

It looks beautiful today. Hey [livejournal.com profile] nodoilies and [livejournal.com profile] jactitation, beer on the stoop before Buffy?

comments are weird

my most-commented-on blog entry mentioned corgis, and the comments (d)evolved into a discussion of the merits of various dog breeds.

What can you do?

People comment as they feel, and there's no telling what will happen. My guess is that most everyone has given the "friend" matter some thought and is more than willing to share their opinions. The subject is more accessible than most of the stuff I've seen lately, G.

Although the clown sex worker bit a few (several) entries back. You'd think that would rival the LJ-friend thing in comment quantity, if not quality. Actually, maybe I'm the only one who would think that.

ha. It really doesn't upset me or anything. I love my readers.

But you've inspired a new entry.

Definitely good beer drinking weather. Are you around on Thursday? We're hitting Bernal Heights bars and one has a magic garden for outdoor drinking.

Yeah, Wild Side West is one of my favorite bars. I wished I lived closer. Thurdsdays are hard for me because I work very early on Fridays but I may try and make it. I'll have to burn those CDs then . . .

Even though I don't work on Fridays, I like to get stuff done early in the AM. So I'm not planning a late night. I just want to have a drink or two at the bars up there, maybe grab some food and head home. My nights of debauchery are a thing of the past...I've become the poster boy for moderation. We could also hit the Wild Side first so we could enjoy what's left of the daylight.

I love the wild side west. We go there with Ron and Victoria every time we see them. They live a block away. By the way you know Rons playing with the Eddy Haskels

Hi there
I got your mail and thought I'd reply here. Your best bet for seeing what gigs are on when you are over is to look on this website www.stargreen.com and then check flyers and stuff when you arrive. I'm sorry I'm not much more help but I am really out of the loop at the moment as I am in my final assessment phase of teacher training - early nights and books Vs cheap red wine and loud music :(
However, let me know what you are going to see and I'd love to come and meet you. We're a small crowd but we're friendly.
Safe travels,
emma.

hey,

thanks for the offer. I never contacted you because no one I know in London has an e-mail connection and i didn't have time to go to an internet cafe. Good luck on your teacher stuff.

Sorry...

Didn't even realize there was a Buffy tonight! Oh well. I have to be working on my lessons for tomorrow (whoo-hoo! writing workshop!), but I will take a one-hr break to watch with you guys.

[identity profile] walktheplank.livejournal.com 2003-05-13 10:57 am (UTC)(link)
Oh my fucking god!!! Who cares about the commercial appeal! -whoever decided to do a comic about the Winter brothers as evil half-worm mutants is a fucking genius!

Where can I get a copy of this before the intellectual property lawyers order all remaining copies to be destroyed?

"Didn't even realize there WAS a Buffy tonight."

Dude! It's, like, the SECOND-TO-THE-LAST EPISODE of the entire series!!! ;)

[identity profile] jactitation.livejournal.com 2003-05-14 06:33 am (UTC)(link)
Dude, a) it's been an awful fucking season, so the care-factor is slipping majorly (my theory is it's passive-aggressive "you don't love us enough to keep us on for another season so here's what you get"); b) I really thought the fucking episode was the preview to the final battle (so glad I was wrong about that); and c) Sarah Michelle Gellert's whittling away down to stick-size has left her nose looking almost too scary to watch--I'm repressing things to avoid seeing it.

hrmmm, my most-commented posts would be a tie (both 80 comments) between me playing social coordinator (this being before we developed a community to do such things) for the very first ever GFB, and a ridiculous bit of FLUFF that just goes to show that sometimes my friends and i use LJ as if it was chat (ICQ, IRC, etc.).

oh wait, does it count if almost half of the comments are YOURS?
ha ha. i'm such a putz.
