Insults and The Cooperative
Sep. 9th, 2004 07:54 amOver the last few days I’ve been obsessed with the "you put the XXXX in XXXX" insult construction. My co-worker, referring to raw foodies said under his breath to one, "You put the raw in wrong". I mis-remembered it as "You put the awful in raw foods" which didn’t work quite as well. I found myself saying, not nicely, that a certain Mohawked youngster, "puts the punk back in punk" but that just made me feel old. Anyone else have some good ones to share?
Otherwise, I have a 75% written entry about my poll that I have no time to finish. I was gonna post my Coop Anti-Dysfunction Pledge, and I still might, but it needs work and I’m shy like that. Instead, I’ll just remind the locals of this:
The Cooperative returns! Saturday 9/11!
This time it's not an unfounded rumor. The band of coop workers that brought you the songs, 'Injury, Injury", "86 you", and "Terminated" ("Every once in a while some shit goes down. The Coop’s gotta kick out some clown. They lie, steal, hit or sneak. Ain’t no way we’re gonna turn the other cheek." ) are playing a one-time-only reunion show to support our coop comrades. The Cooperative plays class-conscious, poorly executed, Reagan-era punk. The singer's girlfriend wrote that we had "some of the funniest lyrics" she'd heard "in a long time" in the biggest circulation punk magazine on the planet. You don't want to miss this!
This is during the cabaret and auction night of the Bay Area Worker Cooperative Conference . The conference costs money but the auction/cabaret is free. However, feel free to bring cash to bid on lovely co-op goodies. The nighttime festivities start at 8:00 at the Women's Building (18th bt. Guerrerro and Valencia). The Cooperative will go on some time between 10-11 and we only have a 5 minute set so please be prompt.

-The Cooperative (ex-APPLE, Cinnamon Imperials, Songs for Emma, Little Deaths, Taste Freeway)
p.s. There's also a co-op film fest ending tonight* at the Red Vic, showings at 7 and 9:15. Friday 9/10 at 7:30 there will be a discussion of the history of co-ops in the US for a donation at the Women's Building.
