Very odd.

My sister, who's seven years older than me, got rushed to the hospital yesterday to get her appendix taken out. She's fine. In fact she said she's enjoying the break from the kids and husband. She even got hers done lapriscopically so she's already off the pain meds.

I guess our family has late-blooming appendices.

Eek. I'm glad she's okay.

Thank you.

I bet she was always a copycat!

(I'm glad she's doing well.)

nah, she was the oldest. I copied my brother usually.

People always say how dangerous it is to have appendicitis, and how likely you are to die, etc, but I know or know of probably a half dozen people who've had sudden appendix problems and none of them has had any kind of long-lasting problems from it. I've never even heard of anybody dieing of it.

I am forced to wronder if people just overrepresent the danger with modern medical parctices or something.

I am glad to hear she's well.

It's only really dangerous if it bursts, so far as I know. And I think pretty much all appendix problems are sudden. But my doc told me that usually you have it out by age 30 or not at all. I'm 37 and my sis is 44 in this, our year of appendices.

but it's one of those things. If you have one, getting cut open is a relief.

Um... if someone's having "appendix trouble" and they don't get it treated and suddenly they're fine, it was probably gas.

An inflamed appendix will eventually rupture and cause severe septicemia.

yeah, huh? My brother better watch out!

that's a little extreme for sibling rivalry, isn't it?

That jealous bitch copies everything I do!

Eek! I'm glad she's ok.

I guess now that I'm 30.5 I'm fine appendix wise. An intern at my work had appendicitis and ended up missing 2 weeks.

Yikes! Glad she's okay.

You said appendices. May I add you? Oh wait. I already did.
