Hey, Bay Area kids.... who remembers Home Turf? It was the show that would have segments about kids doing cool and unusual things, I think it was on Channel 4. It was hosted by Dominique Di Prima (Yes, daughter of Diane) who introduced every segment with a rap.
Anyone?
The segement that I was on (though you totally wouldn't find me unless you knew where to look) has just resurfaced. I don't speak or even get fully on camera not in a crowd, but it was fun for me to watch. Someone once said, "You couldn't grow up in the '80s in the Bay without being on that show at least once."

One of my favorite shows was TV POW! It was this video game that you played live on the air via phone with this host dude (he had a golden combover...Pat something? McCormack?) You'd send in your entry to KTVU Channel 2 and if they picked your name you got on the phone and said POW! POW! POW! on the phone and this pong-style video game shot live onscreen when you said POW! and well, it was pretty fucking cool for 1980, ok?
Love the memory lane. Thank you.

Date: 2007-03-22 04:24 pm (UTC)Yeah Pat McCormick. I don't remember the spelling. I thought Bob Wilkins might have done it for a bit too but I could be wrong about that. but remember, the person dressed as Captain Cosmic. Pat definitely did Dialing for Dollars. the staple of TV for when I was home sick.
My favorite Ch 2 thing in retrospect (and I've mentioned this here before I think) were the educational bits. I learned about Pointilism that "Seurat knew lots about dots!"
the segment was about my high school rowing team. I think the producers were like, "Dominique, you have to put some white kids on the show! I know they're boring, but we need the demographic". We were introduced with "Here's a crew that doesn't rap..."
