Many of you locals may recall the huge cheese we used to have hanging near the cheese section of our store. We took it down and [livejournal.com profile] dairyierre (who made it) is making a new one. "Where did the old one go," you ask? We donated it to a good cause.

Tonight it will be smashed by the Lifesize Mousetrap at the Haunted Barn (702 Earl St.). If you have not seen the Lifesize Mousetrap, tonight would be an excellent night for it. $10 is well worht the price. Plus there's bands and stuff too.

I will be there if I can get out of work early enough. ([livejournal.com profile] anarqueso, please text me if it happens before I make it there!) I really don't want to miss it!

Here is the cheese (in happier times) with Vampire Clo, dressed up for Halloween:

ZOMG LIFESIZE MOUSETRAP CHEESE! Fantastic choice for the donation!

I almost miss living out there and riding my bike by The Barn. People, go check this out. It's pretty freaking cool.

farewell giant cheese. you never steered me wrong.

getting smashed in the lifesize mousetrap is about as close as a giant cheese can get to a viking funeral. its what the cheese would have wanted.

I am so bummed I am missing that! I <3 the life-size mousetrap!! I liked the easter one when they dropped the 600lb safe on a giant cake!!! Or, at least, that's how I remember it.

You know who really loves the giant mouse trap? My (at that time) pre-school aged children! Except the part where you have to wait two hours for them to actually drop the ball. There's no way they'll do it before you get off work G!

Isn't it just the most amazing thing on earth? I can imagine the 2 hour wait is a bit hard on kids, though.

Sorry I missed this post and your text. Yeah, they smashed around 9:00 or so, and it made a fantastic noise, especially since they'd crammed a few beachballs inside it just for extra effect. There are a few new features on the mousetrap now, a ball thrower which flings the bowling ball into a tiny trebuchet. It all went fantastically, except the final trigger broke into a pile of two-inch rebar, so they had to pull a cable to make the safe drop. [livejournal.com profile] dairryiere's kids had the time of their life, oohing and ahhing over the sexy dancing mice, and demanding to be allowed to take home big chunks of broken cheese. Formaldehyde gently told them they had to leave all the crumbly styrofoam bits behind so that the mousetrap workers could carefully reassemble the cheese so it could be crushed again! Recycling! Ha ha. The kids believed it.

Ah, small world. My friend Tackett worked that gig last night (instead of driving down here and working my cheese gig). The lifesized mousetrap is so awesome.
