It must be time for the GOP convention since the anarchist/activist homes and infoshops are being raided:

Minneapolis/St. Paul ( Longer Salon article here)

Berkeley

And, of course, then there's New Orleans with no shelters of "last resort" and not enough busses to evacuate the city.

And now I go to serve slow food to people who could pay $65 a head to taste food. What has happened to me?

but then I should be getting paid to hand food to Slow rich people. STUPID! is more like it.

Well you could always come down and help us volunteer at the shelters which is what we spent most of the end of 2005 doing in Houston.

I'm seriously tempted, even being on wheels this time

Well let's see what happens first. It looks like it is fizzling out which would be the best possible thing to happen considering the change in agenda at the RNC. Imagine how stupid the RNC would look when Gustav turned out to be a dud.

I know...

But, there's Work and work. And we all gotta do some of each...

My reaction to the price of the Slow Food stuff is to say, "Well that's nice. I'm just gonna save that money and sit outside and weed my vegetable garden which is local and sustainable AND free."

You're not the only one feeling guilty.

What really matters was put into perspective!
I could not agree more.
Please visit http://www.commongroundrelief.org/gustav for updates and guidance into supporting New Orleans. I will post via here any updates. Keep your good thoughts to New Orleans.
Thanks,

Hahaha. Yeah, I didn't want to go - who wants to pay $65 to taste food? Until my editor said they'd pay for me to go and cover the event, and then I was all, "BRING ON THE FOOD AND BOOZE, BITCHES!"

I think being deaf helps, because I can't overhear whatever those people were prattling about.

I got to try everything, it was interesting, but not worth $65. Man, the line for the Cheese Pavillion was insane though.

Good to see you - one of these days we have to actually talk instead of hurried "hi's!" :)

I could totally spot the folks who had someone else paying. Glad you got in for free! Which cheeses did you get?

I don't remember, my plate was missing a label, but it was good ... I think one was a sheep's milk (was firm, tangy) one was a firm cow's milk, and I think the third was a firm goat milk ... wow, I'm starting to be able to distinguish the milks now. SHOOT ME

The raid at berkeley had to do with not the republican convention but the suppose use of the computers at the long haul by people associated with the fire bombing of the uc santa cruz researcher last month.

Just dropping you a random "Hey, I'm friending you!" comment. We've got a bunch of friends in common, and I (sort of) crashed your 40th b-day party, and you gave me a sample of a spectacular goat cheese on Saturday. So, hi!
