John Waters vs. bears
Oct. 9th, 2004 10:33 amI just saw the new John Waters’ film "A Dirty Shame". I don’t have a lot to say about it. It was funny but not nearly as good as his classics. The four of us in the Stonestown Mall matinee laughed a lot. Thank god I had just learned was "Roman showers" were the week before so I could feel all San Francisco and superior when they were mentioned.
But much like "Life of Brian" where ostensibly the target was Christians but the funniest attacks were on Leftists, Waters skewers "neuters" ,the religious right, and born-again virgins, but bears get the real brunt of the humor. They can’t speak without growling, they’re constantly having sex in the bushes, and everyone is Somethingbear: Daddybear, Mamabear, Cubbybear, Trannybear etc. It was definitely the funniest part.
