This photo post them is dedicated to
tlacuiloliztli. I didn’t have teddy bears, but I think this comes close, at least spiritually.

This photo was taken at the SPCA office at the mall where I worked in a photo lab. It was the rat’s birthday. No one thought he would survive that long after the horrible accident. But he believed in himself. He overcame his injuries. He worked through the pain of physical therapy and the emotional pain of mourning his lost family and friends. Though suspicious, he let the humans feed him until he could feed himself. He liked cookies. He did survive. At least, until he didn’t.
Please post your anthropomorphic animal photos and tell a short little story about it. Thank you.

Date: 2005-02-03 06:11 pm (UTC)But an unseasonal storm came through at a disaterous time for the Rat family. No one knows exactly what happened, and the rat pictured claims to have no memory of the events, but by the time everyone else had fled to higher ground Mr Rat was still unprepard for the disaster about to strike.
Perhaps he felt the pressure change in his bones. Perhaps a cold blast of wind smacked him in the face and made him realize the danger. But when he returned to his home the water was already rising and it was partially flooded. He tried to save his babies who were too small to fight the current. But this proved futile. The water rose higher and higher and only a lucky current washed him ashore unconscious and barely alive.
Sometimes, when the guilt and burden of living was especially sharp and pungent, he wished he had perished too. But some inner strength, or perhaps it was inner weakness, kept him going and allowed himself to be fed and grow stronger.

She for a while had a ravenous affinity for the wayward cough drop, but has chosen to put those dark and sorded days behind her and look toward the future.

Date: 2005-02-03 07:02 pm (UTC)He is a maladjusted terrier mix that is the size of a small cat and has the attitude of a snarly old drunk. Despite all of this, Dad manages to get him into a sweater on really cold days.
Rocky is a big fan of cheese. He has to take a wee little half-a-pill every day and Dad smooshes it into a tiny piece of cheese about the size of a pinky fingernail. Currently, I believe they are using sliced American for this task. Perhaps you can recommend a terrier-friendly cheese that would nicely complement dog food?

Date: 2005-02-03 07:38 pm (UTC)After not only defeating the polar bear that threatened his home and his family, but also making an example to other polar bears by furnishing his home with a nice new bearskin rug, this racoon celebrates his victory with a smoke (or five) and a few swigs straight from the bottle of his favorite potable, Krauter Likor!

(1.3 MB--a couple of minutes if you have a dialup connection.) I'm told the Chinese characters translate as follows:
Kitten: "I will hypnotize you and you will give me all your cat food!"
Cat: "You're crazy!"

Date: 2005-02-04 01:24 am (UTC)This is the first installment of "Darren getting his picture taken with men I dislike who are dressed up like mythical holiday characters." I know the man in the cheap bunny suit. He's an old drunk who used to stare at my ass in an especially unsettling manner.
There were also pictures of Darren posing with my insane former boss, (who was dressed as Santa) but they were burned in the same bonfire in which I burned all of my old business cards.
With whom will Darren be photographed next? One can only guess.

Date: 2005-02-04 05:07 am (UTC)This is a dead butterfly - classic case of being in the wrong place at the wrong time. He was on I-5 North about 80 miles south of Redding.
It was about 7pm on a summer evening in 2003. This guy was taking the long way home, enjoying the warm air, thinking about seeing his hot date after a long day at work. He simply wasn't paying attention and drifted too low, right into the path of traffic. I came barreling along in my pickup and accidentally collected him in my grill.
The dead butterfly's lover mourned for a while, then proceeded to take up with another butterfly that looked eerily similar to the one pictured here.
great one!
